The artist featured on this site is Franz Marc. He was born on February
8, 1880, in Munich, Germany and studied at the Munich Art
Academy.
With
Kandinsky, he founded the almanac "Der Blaue Reiter" in 1911
and organized exhibitions with this name. He died near Verdun, France, on
March 4, 1916.
Most of his mature work portrays animals, usually in natural
settings. His work is characterized by bright primary color, stark
simplicity and a profound sense of emotion.
